We are thrilled that Simon Kollerup has accepted our invitation to deliver an exciting presentation at our annual summer party, which this year will be held at Hellerup Sejlklub on August 29.
It promises to be a fantastic evening in good company.
Simon Kollerup is the Chairman of the Folketing’s Finance Committee and former Minister for Business Affairs.
The Finance Committee deals with two main areas: 1) appropriation legislation and 2) economic policy. The committee regularly processes ministers’ requests for financial resources, which become action items if accepted. The action item allows the Minister to handle the appropriation as if it had been granted by law. The way the financial statement processes ministers’ requests for financial resources thus differs from the treatment of other appropriations. You can read about the procedures for handling documents and workflows, etc., in the finance committee’s report published in 2011.
Overview of the Finance Committee’s meetings:
• Ongoing appropriation meetings to process ministers’ requests for financial resources and to control the use of the economic appropriations.
• Two annual meetings with the Presidency of the Economic Councils to be briefed and advised on the current economic situation with discussions on macroeconomic issues. The Economic Council consists of 4 independent economists, known as the “economic wise men,” who publish the annual Wise Men’s Report.
• Annual meeting with the Minister of Economics prior to the publication of the Economic Report. Three times a year, the Ministry of Economics sends an Economic Report to the finance committee focusing on economic development and the ministry’s forecast for the Danish economy in the coming years.
• Annual meeting with the direction of the National Bank to be briefed on current economic issues relevant in a political context and for the work of the Finance Committee.
