For 40 years, five months and ten days, David Trads was in love with America. It began on a warm day in August 1984, when Donna welcomed a 17-year-old exchange student from Denmark in New York City. And it ended on a cold day in January 2025, when Trump was once again sworn in as president in Washington.
But the personal trauma is one we all share. Through his own story of love, betrayal and hope, the author tells how everything we believed in — especially that America and Europe stand together — is over. The world we knew no longer exists. So what do we do now?
